Meet Mrs. Servant
Welcome to my first grade class! I am so thrilled to work together with you and your family this school year. Let me tell you a bit about myself. I fell in love with the idea of becoming a teacher when I was a senior in high school. While duel enrolled at Bay College, I was placed at an elementary school to fill a void in my schedule. It was there that I fell in love with teaching and never looked back. I quickly changed my long-term plan and enrolled in college the next year with a major in Elementary Education. I graduated with an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts at Bay College and went on to graduate with honors from Northern Michigan University, three years later, with a Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education. I attained my first teaching position in 2009 at St. Francis de Sales in Manistique where I taught both kindergarten and technology (K-8). In the two years working there, I established a Builders Club for the middle school students and was a Girl Scout leader. I returned home in 2011, when I was offered a position teaching first grade at Holy Name in Escanaba. I spent four years at Holy Name and remained in first grade for the duration of my time there. It was while working at Holy Name that I completed my Masters in Learning Disabilities, graduating with honors at Northern Michigan University.
On less of a professional level, my husband, Curt, and I recently celebrated our four year anniversary. We just had our first child, Cole, in February. We have two dogs, Roxy (a pug) and Ziggy (a lab). We live out in the country, along the river. My hobbies include kayaking, snowshoeing, biking, hunting, traveling, and refinishing antique furniture. I love living life to the fullest and find great value in providing myself with a variety of learning experiences.
I am thrilled to be a part of the Cameron Elementary School staff! I am grateful to be provided with the opportunity to work with a wonderful group of first graders and I look forward to an incredible year! Please, don't hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns. I encourage you to become an active participant in our classroom and welcome the opportunity to work with you.
